Tasty Tuna Melt

BENEFIT

This recipe is a source of iron for your toddler’s brain development and high in calcium and vitamin D for healthy bones.

Ingredients

  • 1 tin tuna (small tin in spring water)
  • ½ spring onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tomato (small)
  • 15g cheddar cheese (finely grated)
  • 1 slice wholegrain bread (or white)

Directions

  1. Preheat the grill at a high temperature.
  2. Drain the tuna and flake in a bowl, mix through the spring onion.
  3. Toast the bread under the grill until browned on each side.
  4. Spread the tuna mixture over the toast covering the whole slice.
  5. Place the chopped tomato on top and sprinkle over the cheese.
  6. Put back under the grill until cheese is melted and starting to bubble.
  7. Remove from grill, allow to cool and cut into soldiers for your toddler to pick up.
