Breastfeeding is best for babies and provides many benefits. It is important that, in preparation for and during breastfeeding, you eat a healthy, balanced diet. Combined breast and bottle feeding in the first weeks of life may reduce the supply of your own breastmilk, and reversing the decision not to breastfeed is difficult. The social and financial implications of using an infant milk should be considered. Improper use of an infant milk or inappropriate foods or feeding methods may present a health hazard.
If you use an infant milk, you should follow manufacturer’s instructions for use carefully – failure to follow the instructions may make your baby ill. Always consult your doctor, midwife or health visitor for advice about feeding your baby.

Follow On milk complements the weaning diet by providing the nutrients your baby needs in a smaller volume of milk, leaving room in their tummy when they start solids.
Aptamil Profutura Follow on milk is only for babies over 6 months as part of a healthy, varied weaning diet. It is not a breastmilk substitute.
From around 6 months of age, your baby’s nutritional needs are changing and it is important to make sure they are getting all the key nutrients they need to support their growth and development.
Inspired by the science of Early Life, our experts have developed Aptamil Profutura Follow On milk, our most advanced follow on formula yet. It contains specific nutrients tailored to complement your baby’s diet during weaning and to support their ongoing development by providing the nutrients they need in a smaller volume of milk, leaving room in their tummy for their first solids.
As a result of our ongoing research into breastmilk, we have made new discoveries which have led to our most advanced follow on formulation yet. Aptamil Profutura Follow On milk contains our highest levels of DHA* (Omega-3 LCP) as well as the essential fatty acids ALA and LA, our patented blend of GOS/FOS, phospholipids, iron, calcium and vitamins A, C & D.
What are LCPs (Long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids)?
LCPs are fatty acids such as Omega-3 or Omega- 6. World experts have concluded that the current evidence strongly supports the inclusion of LCPs in infant formula1. Aptamil baby milks were the first company in Ireland to provide LCPs in infant formula, supplying them in the amount recommended by leading nutritional experts. Ongoing research has now led to our most advanced follow on formulation yet.
Aptamil Profutura Follow on milk contains the essential fatty acids ALA and LA which are needed for normal growth and development. Your child can benefit from an intake of 2g ALA and 10g LA per day. 600ml of Aptamil Profutura Follow on milk provides 19% of ALA and 22% of LA per day.
Aptamil Profutura Follow on milk also contains our highest levels yet of DHA* (Omega 3 LCP) which supports normal visual development.
*Contains 33% more DHA than any other Aptamil Follow On milk.
What are GOS/FOS?
Prebiotic oligosaccharides, often shortened to prebiotics, are special carbohydrates. We add a unique prebiotic blend of galacto- (GOS) and fructo- (FOS) oligosaccharides to all Aptamil milks which are derived from chicory and lactose.
Vitamins and Minerals
Aptamil Profutura Follow on milk contains:
Calcium and vitamin D which are both important for normal bone development
Higher levels of iron compared to standard infant milks which helps to replenish your baby’s natural stores of iron that start to run low at around 6 months. Iron is important to support normal cognitive development.
Vitamins A and C which support the immune system
Iodine which contributes to the normal growth of children
