Breastfeeding is best for babies and provides many benefits. It is important that, in preparation for and during breastfeeding, you eat a healthy, balanced diet. Combined breast and bottle feeding in the first weeks of life may reduce the supply of your own breastmilk, and reversing the decision not to breastfeed is difficult. The social and financial implications of using an infant milk should be considered. Improper use of an infant milk or inappropriate foods or feeding methods may present a health hazard.
If you use an infant milk, you should follow manufacturer’s instructions for use carefully – failure to follow the instructions may make your baby ill. Always consult your doctor, midwife or health visitor for advice about feeding your baby.

You’ll need a clean bowl and feeding spoon
Mix 1 spoonful of baby rice with 10 spoonfuls of your baby's usual milk, warm or cold and stir. If serving warm, check the temperature before serving.
As your baby grows, you can use a larger spoon to make a bigger serving.
If your baby prefers a smoother or thicker consistency, simply add or reduce the amount of water to suit them.
Make it your own Once your baby is happy with the taste and texture of baby rice, you can start introducing gentle new tastes, such as puréed apple or pear, which you can easily mix in with the porridge.
