It is well documented that fertility and body weight are directly linked. This means that both over and underweight can and does affect your ability to conceive.

Your BMI or Body Mass Index is an important factor to consider when preparing for a baby. Your BMI can be easily calculated for example. Someone who weighs 60kg and is 1.65 metres tall:

Weight in Kgs                    60

Height in Metres            1.65 x1.65  =  22.06

Ideal BMI for adults is between 18.5 and 24.9.  Your nutritional status before pregnancy and during the very early weeks of pregnancy (before even realising that you are pregnant) may be even more important than the diet you eat once your pregnancy is confirmed.
