The CSO has released it’s 2018 statistics on baby names in Ireland. Have a look below to see the top baby names, the top climbers and some new additions to the top 100 list in 2018.Jack and Emily remain the reigning champions!
Top 10 Boys’ names 2018
9 of the top 10 names were also in the top 10 last year – the only new entry is Charlie with Sean dropping out of the top 10 in 2018.
Top 10 Girls’ names 2018
There were a few new entries to the girls top 10 in 2018 vs 2017. Ella, Ellie and Fiadh all climbed the ranks into the top 10.

Other interesting stats
- There was more variety in girls’ names than in boys’ names with 4,779 girls’ names in 2018 compared with 3,712 for boys.
- Jack was the top name in half of the counties in 2018 while Emily was number 1 in 11 areas.
- The top names in Dublin city were James and Emily and Olivia in joint first. Michael, Anna and Fiadh came out tops for Galway. Adam and John were the favourites in Leitrim, while Kate was the most chosen name in Roscommon.
