Getting back into an exercise routine with a new baby around can be tough. It can be hard to find the motivation, time and childcare – particularly all at the same time!

But exercise is really important as it will not only help your body to get back into shape, it will help to get you out and about, boost your energy levels and help you sleep better at night.

The simplest and free way to get out with your new addition is to put your running shoes on, put your little one in their buggy or stroller and hit the paths. There are lots of beautiful parks and countryside around Ireland which are perfect for walking with baby or if you don’t have one nearby – even getting out and about in your local area will make you feel great.

A new craze which has gained in popularity across Ireland in the last few years is Buggy Bootcamp. These classes are popping up all over the country and are a great way to squeeze an exercise class in with baby! The beauty of these classes is that you are getting out with baby but also with other mums in the same situation so not only do you get to burn off a few pounds but you get to socialise too. There has also been a rise in other exercise classes which allow you to bring your baby in their buggy – such as Yoga, Pilates and circuit training. There are even now ‘Sling and Dance’ classes.
